ThreadWare is built from modules - Sales, Production, Quality and so on. An administrator gives you a role in each module, for each company you work in. The menu is built from those roles. So if something in this guide is not in your menu, it has not been given to you yet. Ask your administrator, or log a support ticket. To see what you currently hold, click your initials in the top right and choose My Access & Roles.
What ThreadWare is
ThreadWare is one website that holds several different systems for your company: sales orders, production, quality documents, machine readings, staff reviews, health and safety incidents, and more. Each of those is called a module.
You do not get all of them. Your company is switched on for the modules it has bought or needs, and then an administrator gives you permission inside those. That is why two people at the same company can sign in and see completely different menus.
Signing in for the first time
If you have not registered yet
- Open ThreadWare in your browser and click Register in the top right.
- Fill in your details. Your employee number is optional - you can leave it
blank and give it to your administrator later. If you do type it, type it exactly as it appears on
your payslip, including any zeros at the front.
000189is not the same as189. - Submit the form. You will get a confirmation email. Click the link in it.
- Now wait. An administrator has to approve you before you can do anything.
Until an administrator approves you, your menu shows only Home, your account pages and Server Status. That is not a fault - it means nobody has given you any roles yet. Contact your administrator. Once they grant your roles, sign out and sign back in and the rest of the menu appears.
If you already have an account
Enter your email address and password and click Log in. Forgotten your password? Click Forgot password on the sign-in page and follow the email.
If you cannot sign in at all, the ? button at the top of the sign-in page lets you log a support ticket without an account.
The bar at the top
The dark bar across the top of every page is always the same. From left to right:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Three lines (hamburger) | Opens and closes the menu drawer on the left. The drawer starts closed. |
| THREADWARE logo | Takes you back to the Home page. |
| Search or ask AI | Opens the AI Assistant so you can ask a question in ordinary English. See the AI Assistant guide. |
| ? (question mark) | Help. Opens this set of guides, and has Log a Support Ticket at the bottom. |
| Bell | Your notifications. A number on the bell means something is waiting for you. It refreshes by itself every minute, and is on the phone app as well. |
| Sun / moon | Switches between light and dark colours. ThreadWare remembers your choice on that device. |
| Your initials | Your account menu: My Account, My Access & Roles, Privacy, Software Licences and Sign out. |
The menu drawer
Click the three lines at the top left. The drawer that slides out is your menu. It is grouped by module, in this order:
Sales · Production · Business KPIs · Instrument Graphs · Tag Analytics · Risk / Incident / Problem Management · Governance Management · Time and Attendance · Performance Management · Quality (QMS) · Recruitment · AI Assistant · Support Desk · Administration
You will not see all of these. The drawer is built from your roles, so a module you have no role in does not appear at all - not greyed out, simply absent.
Why a module sometimes shows company names underneath
If you work in more than one company, a module that holds company data shows a level for each company beneath it. Pick the company you want first, then the page. If you only work in one company, that level is hidden and you go straight to the page.
Some pages need to know which company you mean. If you bookmark a page without the company in the address, ThreadWare has to guess, and it will pick the first company it finds - which may not be the one you were looking at. Reaching pages through the menu always gets the right one.
Checking what you can do
Click your initials in the top right and choose My Access & Roles. That page lists every company and every module you have been granted, and the role you hold in each. It is the quickest way to answer "why can I not see that page?".
If something is missing, ask your administrator to grant it. They do that under Administration ▸ Users & Organisation ▸ User Access.
Your own settings
- My Account - change your name, contact details and password.
- Privacy - what ThreadWare stores about you, and how to ask for your account to be deleted.
- Software Licences - the list of other people's software that ThreadWare uses, and their licences.
- Dark mode - the sun/moon button in the top bar. This is a ThreadWare setting, not a Windows one, so changing it here does not change anything else on your computer.
When something goes wrong
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| The module is not in the menu at all | You have no role in it. Ask an administrator. |
| "You are not authorised to view this page" | You reached the page by typing the address or using an old link, but you do not have the role for it. |
| "No Sales Orders Available for this Company" | That company does not have an order book connected in ThreadWare yet. This is a setup job for an administrator, not something you did. |
| You were granted a role but nothing changed | Sign out and sign back in. Your permissions are read when you sign in. |
| The page looks stale or half-loaded | Press Ctrl + F5 to force a full reload. |
Still stuck? Open the ? menu at the top and choose Log a Support Ticket. ThreadWare automatically attaches which screen you were on, so you do not have to explain it. See the Support Desk guide.
